It's docious magocious!

— Jonah's catchphrase

Jonah Beck is a main character on Andi Mack. He is a student at Jefferson Middle School and the captain of the Space Otters Frisbee Team. He was Andi's love interest for the first two seasons.

He is portrayed by Asher Angel.

Personality[]

Jonah is popular, athletic, and friendly. Jonah is passionate about frisbee and will defend its status as a real sport. He is fun and positive and easy-going, says silly things like "docious magocious," and loves to tease. He was very supportive when he found out Andi's secret and even confronted his girlfriend for not respecting Andi and Bex. Jonah is social and charming, winning people over easily with the flash of a dimple. Cyrus is surprised several times that the "cool" Jonah Beck wants to talk to him and be his friend. Jonah has many friends, both boys and girls, which causes Andi to become jealous in You're the One That I Want. In Season 1, he is rarely seen without a smile.

However, as the Good Hair Crew get to know Jonah better, they realize he isn't this happy-go-lucky, seemingly perfect person they thought he was. Jonah can also be very oblivious, be it towards Cyrus or Andi or whatever general situation he's in and comes across as a bit of an airhead. He admits he likes the attention he gets. His initial relationship with Amber[1][2] was forced and toxic, and it turns out Amber was cheating on him anyway. Jonah has issues in his relationships as a result; he is reluctant to use labels and commit to "boyfriend/girlfriend things." He changes his mind frequently and is constantly cycling in and out relationships with different girls. He also can be rather jealous and needy, particularly when he is feeling insecure or is trying to cope with his problems. When things in his life grow unstable and scary, he will return to someone or something familiar in the hopes of finding security and comfort.

Jonah doesn't like to talk about his feelings at first. At Cyrus' bar mitzvah, Jonah suffers from a panic attack for the first time. He tries to hide them and assumes Andi's rejection caused it. Bowie advises Jonah to try guitar to help settle his nerves, so he turns to his relationship with Andi and music as coping mechanisms. However, his panic attacks continue, but his friends, who eventually learn of them, are there to comfort him and assure him they're nothing to be ashamed of. Over time, Jonah becomes less happy-go-lucky but much more real. He is no longer afraid to talk about his feelings and problems as he finds true friends in Andi, Cyrus, and Buffy. He's also more relaxed in a lot of ways, not taking things such as frisbee too seriously and he's able to joke around with his friends.

Physical Appearance[]

He has brown hair, green eyes, and dimples. He dresses like a typical 14-year old, usually wearing casual shirts and jeans.

He tells her all about detention, which only helps scare Andi Mack. After the frisbee game, Jonah leads a cheer for Cyrus for keeping the team refreshed.

Dancing in the Dark[]

Jonah finds out about Bex being Andi's mom and thinks it's awesome. He asks Andi to take a selfie with him; Cyrus photobombs them. He goes to Andi's dance party during which he dances with Andi for most of the time. When Amber makes fun of Bex and Andi's situation, Jonah confronts her about it.

It's Not About You[]

Jonah apologizes to Andi and Buffy for what Amber did during Andi's party and says that Amber is sorry. He also asks Cyrus out on a double-date with him, Amber, and Iris. During the date, Jonah stays behind with Cyrus when he realizes that Cyrus is scared of the rides.

She Said, She Said[]

Jonah is devastated when Andi tells him that she saw Amber with another boy. Instead of owning up to it, Amber uses Jonah's phone to text Andi, who runs as fast as she can to reach Jonah. According to Amber, this proves that Andi likes Jonah and therefore lied about Amber cheating. Jonah tries to give Amber the benefit of doubt, implying that Andi misread the situation. This makes Andi angry at him for not believing her. He tries to apologize to Andi but she brushes him off.

Dad Influence[]

Jonah breaks up with Amber and isn't ready to date again out of fear of getting hurt. However, after a talk with Cyrus, he gets the courage to follow his instincts and gets back together with Amber.

Terms of Embarrassment[]

Jonah meets Andi's dad, Bowie Quinn, when he comes to "coach" the Space Otters Frisbee Team. Jonah is impressed by Bowie but Andi feels embarrassed. When Jonah goes to Andi's house to ask her to join the team in watching the game videos recorded, he finds Andi going through his profile online. Andi gets embarrassed and hides from him. He also sends a text to Cyrus saying "U R Girly" which makes Cyrus insecure. Cyrus enlists Buffy to help him look and act more manly to impress Jonah Beck. Later on, Jonah says that he likes Cyrus' usual look and he meant to say "U R Gnarly" but it got auto-corrected.

She's Turning Into You[]

Jonah struggles to get Amber a birthday gift. He is so distracted that he even goes past Andi without saying hi to her, causing Buffy and Cyrus to think he's ghosting Andi. When Andi goes to talk to him, he reveals that it's Amber's birthday and he's stressing over the perfect gift to get her. She never seems to like any gift he gives her. So, Andi takes Jonah to The Fringe for gift ideas. Bex asks Jonah to give Amber makeup as a gift and then takes the opportunity to give Andi make up in front of Jonah, hoping that he will notice how beautiful she is. Jonah says she's really pretty. Amber loves Jonah's gift but unfortunately doesn't like his card. She gives him a second chance by making him go back and write a more personal message on the card. Jonah asks Andi for help and Andi promises to help him later. He tells her that she's a great pal and that doesn't sit very well with Andi. So, Andi hides from him. Jonah is left stressing over what to do with Amber's gift.

Home Away From Home[]

Amber and Iris bail on their double-date with Jonah and Cyrus. Jonah tells Cyrus that Iris is giving him the silent treatment, revealing that Amber gives him the silent treatment all the time. Cyrus tells Jonah that the two of them should just continue with the date without the girls. Jonah takes a lot of pictures with Cyrus while they're having fun together. They even buy matching jackets and plan to wear them together the following day. Cyrus puts on the jacket but Jonah refuses to wear it, saying that it makes them look like dorks. Cyrus walks away from Jonah heartbroken.

Were We Ever?[]

It's Jefferson Middle School's picture day and Jonah is very excited for his Space Otters Frisbee Team to get their first team photo. He finds Andi and other students protesting against the unreasonable dress code and he's clueless what's going on. Andi explains to him that they're wearing prison outfits to protest against the dress code because it's like being in prison. Jonah pays little attention and emphasizes on reminding Andi not to miss the Space Otters team photo. When Andi shows up for the team photo in the prison outfit, Jonah insists that she should change and put on the Space Otters jersey. Andi tells him how important the protest is but Jonah insists on how important Space Otters is for him. So, Andi makes it simple: if Jonah can tell her why she's wearing the prison outfit, then she will change into her Space Otters jersey for the photo. Jonah can't remember. Andi walks away.

When the protest causes the school photos to be canceled, Jonah comes to Andi and apologizes for being preoccupied with Space Otters. He tells Andi that they're doing a retake of the team photo tomorrow and wants Andi to be there. Andi tells him that she doesn't want to take the photo with the team. In fact, she doesn't want to be part of the team at all. She only joined the team because of Jonah Beck. And she does everything Jonah asks her to do just because he's the one asking. She does so many favors for him including getting birthday gifts for his girlfriend, Amber. Enough is enough. Andi needs to stand up for herself and go after what she wants, not what Jonah wants. Jonah asks Andi if they could still be friends after she leaves the team but asks him if they were ever really friends. Jonah is left confused and sad at the same time.

Best Surprise Ever[]

Jonah is still very upset about Andi leaving the Space Otters team. To make matters worse, Amber's friends make fun of Space Otters, complaining that Ultimate Frisbee is not a real sport. Amber fails to defend Jonah. When Andi comes to The Spoon Diner, Jonah says hi to her but she blows him off. When Andi leaves the diner, Jonah follows her out. Amber tells Jonah that he only left because he likes Andi and Andi likes him back. Amber tells Jonah if Andi looks back, it means she likes him but Jonah doesn't want to wait to see. So he leaves. Both Andi and Cyrus look back. Jonah goes to Cyrus to figure out what's going on with Andi and Cyrus wants to help but Andi is not willing to let them like Jonah again. Cyrus tries to cheer him up by telling him about the Space Otters game but Jonah is too upset to even go. So, he asks Cyrus to tell everyone on the team that the game is canceled.

To end all the stress, Jonah decides to break up with Amber. Amber blames Andi for "manipulating" Jonah into breaking up with her but Jonah says it has nothing to do with Andi and Amber is the manipulative one. Jonah asks Amber to give back Andi's bracelet, the one she took away from him. Amber walks away, threatening Jonah.

Season 2[]

Hey, Who Wants Pizza?[]

After breaking up with Amber, Jonah Beck returns the bracelet to Andi. He also invites The Good Hair Crew to the Space Otters Frisbee Team party. At first, Andi doesn't accept the invitation but Jonah asks her to think about it. Andi is later convinced by Bex to go to the party. During the Space Otters party, Jonah announces a special award to Cyrus Goodman as the MVP of the team for all his support. After the party, Jonah tells Andi about the break up with Amber. He admits that he likes being around Andi. Andi gives him the bracelet back, saying that it belongs to him now.

Later, Jonah finds out that Amber is now working as a waitress at The Spoon Diner and goes to talk to her. Amber opens up to him about her financial and family situation. She tells him that her dad got fired and has been keeping it a secret. They don't have any money and she needs to work to help her family. She asks Jonah to keep it a secret. Jonah accepts and hugs Amber to show that he still supports her. Buffy notices and assumes that Jonah might still like Amber. So, she threatens Jonah to never hurt Andi or any of her friends. Jonah walks away, intimidated.

Chinese New Year[]

Jonah goes to Bex's apartment to give Andi her phone because she had left it behind in the cafeteria. He finds Andi preparing to go to CeCe's house for Chinese New Year feast. Jonah offers to join Andi for the feast. Andi tries to uninvite him to avoid the awkwardness with CeCe but can't figure out how. Jonah goes to change but comes to the party wearing a white shirt instead of a red one since he doesn't understand anything about the Chinese culture. Ham gives him a red shirt instead. Bex and Andi tell CeCe that Jonah is just one of Andi's friends but CeCe is skeptical because she already knows all of Andi's friends. During the feast, Jonah struggles to avoid Andi's cousin Ronald the Magician. He also starts getting hungry because he hadn't eaten. But Andi tells him to wait for the festival rituals to end first. During one of the rituals to the ancestors, Jonah can't wait anymore. He reaches out quickly and grabs a dumpling, hoping no one notices. Everyone notices. Jonah is embarrassed.

Friends Like These[]

Mama[]

Jonah offers to teach Cyrus how to skateboard but Cyrus is scared at first. After Jonah mentions that he wants him and Cyrus to be able to skateboard together, Cyrus gets encouraged to put more effort into it. Unfortunately, Cyrus lacks control and balance. So, he falls and gets hurt. Jonah calls for an ambulance and goes with Cyrus to the hospital. He also texts Buffy and Andi about the accident. Andi and Buffy confront Jonah for teaching Cyrus how to skateboard because he should know that Cyrus is very clumsy. It's his defining characteristic. They're later relieved to realize that Cyrus only hurt his finger.

I Wanna Hold Your Wristband[]

Andi is finally ready to hold hands with Jonah but Jonah hasn't initiated the move first. So, Buffy asks her to make the move. However, just before holding Jonah's hand, the two are separated by Dr. Metcalf into two different groups for a social experiment about injustice. Jonah goes to Group B which gets the worst treatment while Andi gets into Group A which receives special treatment. Andi tries to talk to Jonah while he's painting a wall but Jonah tells her she'll get caught. Jonah is starving the whole day until Andi and Cyrus break the barrier from their group to help Group A. After the experiment, Jonah praises Andi for being so smart that she figured out Principal Metcalf's experiment. After the encounter, Andi holds Jonah's hand. It turns out Jonah has sweaty palms.

Head Over Heels[]

Jonah finally invites Andi on a date. But... he invites Buffy as well. Andi is disappointed because she was hoping that she and Jonah would finally have a real date. During the date, Buffy and Marty turn out to have more chemistry than Jonah and Andi. To make matters worse, Jonah trips and falls, hurting his lip. Andi laughs at him, thinking it's funny. Jonah is embarrassed, so he gets mad at Andi but denies that he's mad. Andi texts him but he refuses to respond and later lies that his phone died. Bex tells Andi to ask Jonah for the third time if he's mad at her. But just before asking him, Andi trips and falls. Jonah laughs at her. They're even now. Jonah is cheerful once again.

There's a Mack in the Shack[]

Buffy and Cyrus later find videos of Jonah and Natalie at her pool party, making Andi wonder if they're just friends. Both Jonah and Natalie attend a frisbee lesson by Furious George together. Buffy and Cyrus spy on them but can't find anything to report on. When Natalie invites Jonah to guest star in her YouTube video, Jonah forgets that he had promised Andi that he would go with her to a Grease sing-along. He has a hard time choosing between Andi's thing and Natalie's video. He chooses Natalie's video. However, after being confronted by Amber about it, he half-heartedly cancels on Natalie and goes to Andi's sing-along. On the bus, Jonah gives an expression that shows he would rather be shooting the video with Natalie.

Miniature Gulf[]

When Cyrus is chosen to star in a video web series for the school, Jonah offers to help Cyrus out in whatever he needs. He becomes Cyrus' camera guy and spends all day with him trying to shoot videos. Eventually, Cyrus realizes that Jonah would make a better star than him. Jonah starts starring in the video while Cyrus is behind the camera.

We Were Never[]

When The Bracelet starts to fall apart, Jonah stops wearing it. He gives it back to Andi and tells her that she doesn't need to fix it but Andi fixes it anyway. When Andi tries to return the bracelet to Jonah, Jonah refuses to take it, claiming that he is not a bracelet guy. He tells Andi that wearing a bracelet would make it look like they're boyfriend and girlfriend. He tells Andi that he doesn't like labels. He reveals that he was only calling Amber "girlfriend" because she made him do that. It turns out, Jonah never really thought of Andi as his girlfriend. To him, she was just a friend. Despite Andi clearly showing that she thought they were dating, Jonah happily thanks Andi for understanding that they're not a couple.

Later on, Jonah helps Cyrus with picking outfits for his upcoming bar mitzvah.

Cyrus' Bash-Mitzvah![]

Jonah goes to Cyrus' bar mitzvah and doesn't say hi to Andi, making Andi think that he's avoiding her. He tells Cyrus that he didn't break up with Andi, he just doesn't like labels. When Andi starts talking to Walker, the caricature artist, Jonah starts to become jealous. He asks Andi if they could continue hanging out together but Andi tells him that she's been obsessed with him for so long and now she's over him. This causes Jonah to have a panic attack and almost faint. TJ finds him and calls for help.

Later that evening, Jonah goes to Bex's apartment and tells Andi that he is ready to start using the boyfriend and girlfriend labels. He asks Andi to officially become his girlfriend. But Andi just responds with "um..."

Better to Have Wuvved and Wost[]

Now that he believes he's Andi's boyfriend, Jonah starts showering Andi with gifts. But he is terrible at giving gifts. Andi eventually asks him to stop giving her the gifts. She also reveals that they're not actually boyfriend-girlfriend. She explains that by "um" she meant that she doesn't know if she wants to be his girlfriend. Jonah agrees to be patient.

Perfect Day 2.0[]

Jonah gets another panic attack and darts into a music store to catch his breath. There, he runs into Bowie and lies to him that he came to buy a guitar. Bowie helps him pick a guitar and starts teaching him how to play. Eventually, Bowie realizes that Jonah didn't really come to buy a guitar. Jonah admits that he was having a panic attack. Bowie offers to be there for him and is very supportive. He also advises him to see a doctor regularly. Jonah asks Bowie not to tell Andi about it.

Truth or Truth[]

Jonah is worried because Andi is not responding to his texts. When Cyrus and Buffy insist that it's over (referring to the game), he thinks his relationship with Andi is over. He gets angry and flips the game board, saying it's not over. Cyrus and Buffy comfort him and assure Jonah that things between him and Andi are fine.

A Walker to Remember[]

Bowie checks in on Jonah's progress with his panic attacks. He gives Jonah a free guitar so that he can play to calm down whenever he has anxiety. He also books Jonah an audition with a music teacher. However, on his way, Jonah passes by an art gallery where he finds a painting by Andi and Walker. He gets even more worried about losing Andi. He looks at his watch and realizes that he's late. He panics.

Crime Scene: AndiShack![]

Jonah is leading the fundraiser for Space Otters Frisbee Team by making and selling pancakes. However, fellow team members fail to show up because Gus didn't send out a message to them. He recruits Buffy and Cyrus to help but they're fighting. He tries to get them to become friends again but with no luck. When he finds them fighting and pancakes burning, he panics and tells them that he's having another panic attack. Luckily, it turns out to be just a panic scare. He then opens up to Buffy and Cyrus about his panic attacks. Through this, he helps repair Cyrus and Buffy's relationship.

Andi's Choice[]

Jonah tells Bowie that he doesn't think Andi likes him anymore. So, Bowie advises him to do a big gesture like write and perform a song for Andi on stage. Jonah writes the song with Bowie's help. Jonah's performance is amazing and Andi loves it. After the performance, Andi remains behind and kisses Jonah.

For the Last Time[]

Buffy in a Bottle[]

Jonah becomes jealous after seeing Andi wearing shoes she received as a gift from Walker. He storms out. He later invites his friend Natalie to hang out with him at The Spoon, making Andi jealous and uncomfortable.

Keep a Lid on It[]

Jonah tries out for the regional league's ultimate frisbee team. He is nervous but Cyrus comes over to cheer him on and give him the confidence he needs. Unfortunately, Jonah does not make the team. Cyrus comforts him and gives him a supportive hug. Afterward, Jonah gets a text from Buffy to come over to Bex's apartment. There, Andi takes him outside and gives him The Bracelet as a symbol that they're now officially boyfriend and girlfriend.

Bought, Lost or Stolen[]

Jonah goes to the art fair with Buffy and Cyrus, only to find Andi and Walker taking photos together next to the charcoal drawing of Andi that Walker made during Cyrus' bar mitzvah. Andi tries to explain what's going on but Jonah says he already knows - Walker is the artist. Surprisingly, Jonah quickly and happily introduces himself to Walker. Andi is surprised at how cool Jonah is about it. Jonah tells Andi that he is not jealous because he's the one with The Bracelet. Jonah asks Andi to show him around.

Season 3[]

The Boys Are Back[]

Jonah has been keeping in touch with Andi over the summer and returns from frisbee camp, believing that they're still together while Andi wants to be just friends. After their simultaneous admission of feelings, Andi takes it back.

Howling at the Moon Festival[]

Jonah goes to the Macks' house to celebrate the moon festival. This time, he's wearing the right color, greets Celia in Cantonese (as opposed to Mandarin), and brings tea as a gift. Everything is going well until he sneezes on a candle, splattering wax on the wall. Everything he does to try to get it off backfires and makes things worse. He nearly has a panic attack, but Cyrus calms him down. When Andi finds out what's going on, he believes himself to be a terrible boyfriend and sparks a conversation as to whether or not they want to be in a relationship anymore. Neither of them wants to be together, but neither wants to break up either. They conclude that they can be just friends without breaking up.

Hole in the Wall[]

Jonah and Andi are proud of their "no-breakup breakup" as they start hanging out together as friends. They declare themselves the best exes ever. They take photos together at Red Rooster Records. Afterward, Bowie asks Jonah to perform a song for his open mic. Jonah doesn't have a song to perform besides the one he performed for Andi, but Bowie encourages him to try writing a new song. Jonah performs a song he wrote about Andi crying the night that Jonah left her for camp.[3] Andi is humiliated and confronts him. Jonah makes things right by performing a new version of the song at school - now, it's about how he cried. Jonah and Andi agree that nothing can stand in the way of their friendship. Andi mentions that not even dating someone else could break it. Jonah's look makes Andi suspicious that he might be seeing someone else already.

The New Girls[]

Jonah has a new girlfriend, Libby, but since she's deaf and he doesn't know sign language, their conversations consist mainly of texting. Andi notices Libby before Jonah has the chance to introduce them. She tries calling to Libby but Libby doesn't respond. Andi thinks Libby is icing her, but Jonah explains that Libby is deaf. He officially introduces Libby to Andi at The Spoon. Since Andi knows basic sign language, she can communicate with Libby more than Jonah ever could. They also both love arts and crafts, so Andi invites Libby to Andi Shack, ditching Jonah and essentially stealing his date. Before they leave, Jonah tells Andi to say nice things about him to Libby. This doesn't quite work as Libby asks Andi why she and Jonah broke up, leading Libby to the conclusion that Jonah is cute but boring. Andi begs her not to break up with Jonah as he approaches them. He asks what they're up to, to which Andi responds with an "um."

I Got Your Number[]

Cyrus invites Jonah to his house to play ping-pong. Cyrus is surprisingly good at ping-pong, beating Jonah. TJ arrives, greeting and complimenting Cyrus and offering to play the winner. Jonah suddenly wants to leave, coming up with the excuse that he has a haircut appointment. TJ and Cyrus tease him for being upset about losing, but Jonah reveals that he has a problem with TJ. Cyrus clarifies that they worked out the gun situation, but Jonah doesn't care about that and leaves without an explanation. TJ has no idea what he did. Jonah later complains to Cyrus about TJ's presence, and Cyrus is confused, as Jonah usually likes everyone. Cyrus says TJ could do with some friends after losing his over the gun thing, but Jonah swears he'll never be friends with TJ and reveals that his grudge goes back to when they were in Little League together and TJ stole Jonah's jersey.

Jonah idolized Roberto Clemente as a child, thus he wanted to have the number 21 on his jersey. However, TJ took his jersey. Jonah tried to call TJ out on it, but TJ insisted the jersey was his. Jonah threatened to tell on him, but TJ mocked him because the coach was Jonah's dad and for getting so upset over a jersey. Jonah says there's no crying in baseball, but Cyrus says that's just a line from a movie. Jonah ended up shoving TJ, and TJ shoved him back. Coach Beck broke up the fight, and Jonah had to watch TJ wear his 21 jersey for the rest of the season, causing him to quit the following year. TJ grew into a star athlete who excels in multiple sports while Jonah pursued frisbee instead. Jonah admits the grudge is stupid, but Cyrus disagrees as Jonah's life could've gone differently if he hadn't quit baseball. Jonah thinks TJ is and has always been mean, but Cyrus insists he isn't anymore.

Jonah wants to drop it, but Cyrus doesn't, bringing TJ and Jonah back to his house to talk things out. Jonah just wants to let it go, but TJ insists he never took his jersey and doesn't want him to think he did, and the two start bickering over what really happened. Cyrus settles the dispute by pulling up a photo of their Little League team, revealing that TJ did take the jersey but by mistake. TJ explains that he thought the jersey said 12. Jonah doesn't get it, so TJ opens up about his dyscalculia and offers an apology. Jonah offers an apology back for holding onto this grudge and thanks TJ for helping him at Cyrus' bar mitzvah, opening up about his panic attacks. The two bond over their respective issues, thus ending their conflict.

The Quacks[]

Jonah, Libby, Andi, and Cyrus go to support the Spikes' first game. Libby tells Andi she still wants to break up with Jonah. Jonah is worried that something is wrong as Libby is acting cold towards him. He asks Cyrus to interpret for him and the problem is that Jonah hasn't bothered to learn any sign language. Jonah admits to Cyrus that he is nervous to use sign language because he doesn't want to make a fool of himself, but Cyrus points out that at least trying to learn would show Libby he actually cares about her. Jonah later approaches Libby. Libby picks up her phone, but Jonah surprises her. He signs to Libby, asking her to teach him sign language, and she agrees. She speaks and signs that she likes him, and he returns the gesture. They link pinkies as she teaches him how to say "too."

One in a Minyan[]

Jonah visits Cyrus as he sits shiva for his Bubbe Rose. Cyrus explains the Jewish tradition to his friends and tells Jonah about memories with his grandmother. Rabbi Hurwitz invites Jonah to join the men as they pray in a minyan. Later, Cyrus finds him in the midst of a severe and unexpected panic attack. Cyrus sits with him through it until he finally calms down. Jonah wishes that Cyrus were there for all his panic attacks. He apologizes when he realizes that wouldn't be fun for Cyrus, but Cyrus is flattered. Jonah admits he never knew how much he needed a friend like Cyrus. Jonah asks why Cyrus was looking for him, but Cyrus brushes it aside. At the buffet, Jonah asks Cyrus for help on what to eat. As Cyrus is listing various foods, in a moment of bravery, he slips in that he's gay. Jonah, to Cyrus' relief, is supportive and says that's cool before going back to picking out foods. The ladies at the shiva try to set Jonah up with their daughters. Cyrus says to Buffy and Andi that he won't tell Jonah he used to like him, but he also never even thought Jonah would know who he was or that they'd be friends.

The Ex Factor[]

Jonah doesn't order anything when he's with the Good Hair Crew at the Spoon, claiming to have eaten. However, Amber offers him a free meal, which he scarfs down. The GHC want to go to Adrenaline City, but Jonah turns the invite down, claiming he has homework even though it's a Saturday. Amber then offers him a ticket, which makes him agree to go. This behavior makes Buffy suspicious that something is going on between Jonah and Amber. At Adrenaline City, Jonah and Amber pair off, adding fuel to Buffy's suspicions. Cyrus grows suspicious as well when he sees them sharing a pretzel, which he describes as "middle school marriage." Andi isn't convinced.

Andi explains to them later in AndiShack that Jonah's wish fell out of the lantern back at the Moon Festival. The wish was for his family to be happy again, and Andi assumes this means the Becks are having financial issues. Buffy feels bad for assuming Jonah and Amber were back together; they were just probably bonding over their similar situations. The GHC decide to help Jonah by asking Bowie to give him a job at Red Rooster Records, but Bowie says he can't as their business is too small. Bowie doesn't know what's going on, so he starts to explain this to Jonah as he's coming out of a guitar lesson, which leads Jonah to realize the GHC know about his problems. He sits them down and explains that his dad made a bad investment and never told the family until he had to declare bankruptcy. The Becks lost their house as a result and are living with relatives. His friends are there for him and tell him he doesn't need to keep things from them. Jonah agrees - no more secrets... but his face says otherwise.

The GHC spot Jonah and Amber talking on a bench. They express relief that they have each other to relate to and that they're not back together as they were a toxic couple. Jonah and Amber then kiss, leaving the GHC in disbelief.

Mount Rushmore or Less[]

Mount Rushmore or Less picks up with the GHC having just witnessed the kiss. Buffy calls Jonah over to confront him. They press him about it, asking him about Libby and if he's cheating and saying they thought Amber was just being a supportive friend. Jonah says Amber is a supportive friend before clarifying he's not cheating: Libby dumped him a couple days ago, and he was too embarrassed to admit it. This doesn't explain why he's back with Amber or why he's in a new relationship so soon after just getting out of one. He says it just happened before walking away. Cyrus wonders if it'll be better this time around as Amber has changed a lot, and Buffy comments that Jonah is cycling through ex-girlfriends at this point - Andi might be next, to Andi's horror. When Andi asks Amber about it, she says they just happened to get together again because they've been bonding a lot recently.

Andi recruits Jonah into a Mount Rushmore costume for Costume Day. Amber waits outside Jefferson because Jonah didn't like her photo on Instapic and asks Andi to confront him about it. Andi tells Jonah he has to like all of Amber's pictures, even the makeup ones, so he does. However, Jonah later pulls Andi aside and says he forgot how much work being with Amber was, complaining about having to text her all the time and hang out with her friends and take selfies. Andi points out that Amber really isn't asking much of Jonah, nothing outside of typical boyfriend stuff. Andi tells Jonah that he needs to make a decision about what he wants and be assertive about it. Jonah takes this advice to heart, but about the wrong thing. He bails on Andi's costume, saying he's not a costume guy and that he never really wanted to do it; he is finally making a decision and speaking up about it. Andi berates him for not honoring his commitment even though he knew how much the costume meant to her and for not getting that she was talking about his relationship with Amber, not the costume. He apologizes before leaving a disappointed and frustrated Andi two people short on the Mount Rushmore costume.

Unloading Zone[]

Jonah joins Andi, Buffy and Cyrus in their protest against Mint Chip, a wasteful clothing company which throws away expensive clothes. They scavenge through Mint Chip's dumpsters for clothes and give them out for free. During the clothes give-away, Jonah inadvertently tells someone how they got the clothes. As a result, Jonah and his friends are arrested for giving away clothes they don't own. They are given 20 hours of community service each.

One Girl's Trash[]

Jonah has won two tickets for go-kart racing and invites Amber to go with him. He is surprised that Amber is actually excited about it but Amber says she just wants to spend time with him. While taking a break during the go-kart racing, Amber tells Jonah, "I love you" twice but she is inaudible because a loud go-kart keeps interrupting them. Amber thinks Jonah didn't hear her but he reveals to Andi later on that he actually heard her but pretended not to. He asks why it has to be love instead of just fun. He starts avoiding Amber to reduce the chances of her saying she loves him again.

Arts and Inhumanities[]

Jonah is still avoiding Amber and ignoring her texts. When Amber asks him about it, he claims that his phone was on silent mode. Amber asks him to hang out but he lies to her that he is busy taking chess lessons from Cyrus. When Amber asks Cyrus about Jonah's progress, she becomes suspicious that Jonah is lying to her. She confronts Cyrus to admit that he isn't actually teaching Jonah how to play chess. Now that Amber has figured it out, Jonah starts wondering what his next lie to avoid her should be. Amber overhears him and asks him to just break up with her. Jonah says that he's sorry and asks if they could still be friends. However she is not enthused by the cliche breakup lines. Before she leaves, she gives Jonah some advice: next time he dumps someone he could be nice, not drag it out, lie to them and make them feel stupid for putting so much time to him. He apologizes again, and then she leaves.

Something to Talk A-Boot[]

Later on, Amber finds Jonah standing outside The Spoon. She reminds him of her request for space, and Jonah says that he understands but he has some news to share with her. Jonah reveals that his father got a job and they can now afford to rent an apartment. He says that he wanted to tell Amber first because she was there for him during the difficult time. Amber thanks Jonah for the consideration. She then asks him if he wants a milkshake and asks him to wait for it outside. She goes inside and asks another waitress to take the milkshake to Jonah.

A Moving Day[]

Jonah feels embarrassed because of his mom but is surprised that Buffy and Cyrus actually like spending time with her. Later, during Bex and Bowie's wedding, Jonah performs Bowie's song "You Girl." After the wedding, Buffy and Cyrus reveal to Andi that Judy Bartholomew is Jonah's mother. Jonah admits that he was embarrassed about introducing her to his friends. They start asking about meeting Jonah father. They jokingly ask if Jonah's dad is one of the hairy men in Judy's videos and Jonah says he's the one on the left. Buffy and Andi think Jonah is joking despite him putting up a serious face. Upset and embarrassed, Jonah walks away, making his friends realize that he was serious.

We Were Here

Jonah joins in at the party Andi and Bex are throwing. At one point he talks to Andi outside and gives her the bracelet she made for him. She says that she’ll bury it so they never have to see it again but Jonah actually says that he wants to keep it because he’s always liked it. She puts it on his wrist and then asked what would’ve happened if they met when they were older, and he replies that someday they will be older, and she smiles. Then after the party he is happy to here that Andi got into SAVA while everyone else is a little sad. Andi then asks Jonah to take a picture of the Good Hair Crew to connect to the one from when they were younger. They then all come in for a group hug and each give Andi a hug with Jonah saying “Love you, Andiman”.
